Feeling Despondent, Discouraged, or Depressed?
It's Time for a Change
Depression can feel like rock bottom, can't it? But as awful as it feels, rock bottom can be a good place to be. It generally means you've exhausted all your resources and you're ready to make some changes.
I’ve found that one of the biggest hurdles to overcome when starting counseling is fear. Generally, for change to occur the fear of the known must be greater than the fear of the unknown.
The weight of depression may be just what it took for you to gain that extra oomph of courage! And that my friend, will get you some freedom!
Out with the Old, In with the New
An integral part of counseling is not only "adding" resources to your tool belt, but it's also about a process of letting go. Letting go of old ways of living, false identities, and unhealthy ways of meeting your own needs.
My approach, when working with any client, is to help find the roots to whatever is currently causing you pain. My hope is to support and guide you into true freedom, not just modify the current negative behavior or symptom.
